Aalto University contributes to the Sea and Space Tracks of the Nordic Master in Cold Climate Engineering.

Arctic technology is one of the five research focus areas of the School of Engineering at the Aalto University. At Aalto, the research topics on Arctic technology concentrate on:

  • Arctic marine and ice technology
  • Geoinformatics and remote sensing
  • Arctic geoengineering and mineral resources
  • Concrete Technology

Some of the facilities that Aalto University has to its disposal are:

  • Aalto Ice Tank
  • Mini-µ-Road – laboratory for testing tire-road contact
  • Access to a Finnish ice-breaker
